Most of the makeup sprays that I have my eyes on are a bit too overpriced and I keep avoiding picking them up because usually I am in a pressing need of something more important – makeup wise 😛 However, I do refrain from buying cheap and substandard makeup products and wait till I have sufficient budget to buy something that would not disappoint me and something that’s also not harmful for my skin. Be as it may, I did see a bunch of new makeup launches by Wet n Wild and one of them was a makeup setting spray and I decided to give it a go.

My Experience with Wet n Wild Photo Focus Natural Finish Setting Spray:
The most important aspect of a setting spray is that it should “set” the makeup – increase the wear time of makeup products that we meticulously apply on our face, try to maintain the freshness of our makeup look, and also to make sure that the face does not appear greasy. I have used setting sprays by other drugstore brands such as L’Oreal and Maybelline, and although they were twice the price of the product in this review, they failed to impress me or do what they claimed to do. So, I had low hopes with this setting spray by Wet n Wild, but I am glad that I have been proven wrong.
This makeup setting spray from Wet n Wild comes in a tiny 45 ml bottle with a spray mechanism to dispense the product directly on to face or on a cotton pad. Packaging appears sturdy and looks like it will last till I run out of the product. Product description on the website says that it can be applied before or after makeup, but I am yet to try the former; I just spritz my face with it and let it dry before heading out.
The product does not have a long list of ingredients but it is still rife with complex-sounding chemicals. Personally, higher the chemical content, the less inclined I am to use that product over long term. It also claims to contain aloe vera, but I couldn’t find it in the ingredient list on the website. Lastly, its second and third ingredient is alcohol based, which means it has the highest percentage than the rest of the ingredients in the spray. Hence, although I love the performance of the product, these three factors will keep me from buying this product in the future.
It is an affordable setting spray which does what a setting spray is supposed to do – prep skin for further layering of makeup or increase the wear time of makeup. It is perfect for those who need an affordable setting spray and are not concerned about alcohol content.
Pros of Wet n Wild Photo Focus Natural Finish Setting Spray:
- It is an affordable makeup setting spray.
- Comes in a sturdy bottle which does not appear or feel cheap.
- It works well as a setting spray.
- It ensures that makeup stays fresh and grease-free throughout the day.
- Some say it performs as well as the highly popular Urban Decay Setting Spray.
Cons of Wet n Wild Photo Focus Natural Finish Setting Spray:
- It has a high content of alcohol and it can be a big skin concern for some of us, especially those with dry skin should refrain from using this product. It even smells of alcohol.
- The bottle is too small for those of us who love to douse our face with setting spray.
- I wish the ingredient list had fewer chemicals.
- I didn’t find aloe vera in the content list.
