We know that swimwear shopping is awful. No one is even going to pretend it isn't. However, doesn't it make it so much easier when someone goes through a few bits and says, well, these aren't disgusting now are they?!?!
I must admit that I own two bikinis that were hard to find. One is tie dye and the other has skulls on it. Very hard to find. Outside of going to goth shops in the vain hope of something - I often have to rely on trawling the high street - HARD.
So if your not a girly girl and don't like pink all the time then here are some options : Store by Store :
RIVER ISLAND - RI bikinis are hit and miss. They can be very miss in that they have the awful Pacha range which features bikinis for Ibiza bound insta-hos. Sometimes, hidden in amongst the shite are some genuine gems of bikinis which get lost in the RI tacky side which occasionally threatens to engulf the entire store....
TOPSHOP - Topshop are a little pricer in terms of swimwear. Although they do have a much better choice online. They do seem very taken with bright colors this year and there is a lot of fluoro. I do like that they have a much better selection of suits rather then bikinis. I get so annoyed with bikinis all the damn time! How hard is it to find a non bikini?!?! Anyway, they also are in the lead for cover ups as well. Lots of them!
ASOS - So erm, what happened with the vaginas at ASOS? I say this because I've never seen so many low cut bikini bottoms in my life. I mean some serious flap displays out there. It was quite shocking. I've had doctors who haven't seen that much of me! I was a little bit flustered by it. Asos is a mixed bag. Some horrors and some really skimpy stuff out there however there were some lovely ones which seemed to all come from brands. I was surprised to see some brands that I don't normally like offering some lovely bikinis such as Motel and Ted Baker. I also liked some Whistles ones too. I think the ASOS stuff is better avoided on this unless you like getting a tan on your hooha.
(The above is the Ted Baker and the below, Motel, which is my pick of the bunch)
PRIMARK - Size is the biggest issue with Primark. I find so many size 16 bottoms and size 8 tops strewn around the floor that it makes you want to give up. I also find that they loose their shape very fast. However, you cannot argue with the value. I'm one of these people that go on a break every six years so when I do - I do not want to spend mad money on a summer wardrobe because its going to sit in storage for another six years until I go again. I'm a city break girl. Always have been. So the prices that Primark charge for bikinis is perfect. In fact, I can get two bikinis and a sandal in there for £20. Can't argue - jobs a good 'un.
H&M - I love H&M for holiday clothing. They have seen me right for two sun holidays now. I like it because it seems a little bit better then Primark and there is a better choice of stuff that suits me. I've also got a few of their £5 skirts which I wear for work and they are so comfortable and still going strong after six years - no word of a lie. I will add that finding images of a press quality is a nightmare with H&M and so often is the reason why I do not feature them. I would also add, their models for swimwear look horrified on the website. The facial expression on the model was really worrying. Anyway, they let you combine sizes in store which is great and the costumes are inexpensive.
I am loving all this fluoro stuff! I am thinking of getting some of it just for the buzz! I wear a lot of black where a pop of color would be awesome. I've wanted a neon bra for so long now. This could be a great alternative.
Hope this helps guys xxx
happy holidays!
